Prairie Urban Farm - May Spring Clean-up & Planting

Calendar Happens On May 24, 2026
Time 10am - 12pm

Description

Prairie Urban Farm (PUF) is a one-acre, mixed crop, community food system in the University of Alberta's South Campus. Their goals are to demonstrate and provide skill-building opportunities in alternative, regenerative ways of growing food within the city and to grow access to sufficient, safe and nutritious food.

As a volunteer you will help with tasks in the garden. In the spring, this may include cleaning up the garden from winter, preparing the beds and some early plantings - we are there to help with what needs doing!

You will receive a tour of the farm, hear about the various projects PUF has been working on and learn where all the vegetables go after they've been harvested.

Volunteer Responsibilities:

  • Sign a volunteer waiver
  • Dress appropriately for the activity - make sure to wear clothes and shoes you don't mind getting dirty, and dress for the weather (hat, sweaters, etc.)
  • Don't be afraid to get your hands dirty!
  • Bring a water bottle, especially if its hot

We will provide:

  • Sunscreen
  • Bug spray
  • Light snacks
  • Gardening gloves to borrow, but bring your favourite pair if you have one!
Warning Requires: General Volunteer Confidentiality Agreement
