Prairie Urban Farm (PUF) is a one-acre, mixed crop, community food system in the University of Alberta's South Campus. Their goals are to demonstrate and provide skill-building opportunities in alternative, regenerative ways of growing food within the city and to grow access to sufficient, safe and nutritious food.
As a volunteer you will help tasks in the garden, including weeding, harvesting, watering, etc. You will also receive a tour of the farm, hear about the various projects PUF has been working on and learn where all the vegetables go after they've been harvested.
Key Responsibilities:
- All volunteers must bring garden gloves and face mask. The University of Alberta has removed COVID restrictions. We do, however request that all volunteers have a mask in case you find yourself working in close quarters with someone who is health compromised.
- Sign a volunteer waiver
- Dress appropriately for the activity (make sure to wear clothes and shoes you don't mind getting dirty, and dress for the weather)
- Don't be afraid to get your hands dirty!
