The Campus Food Bank is hosting its annual Halloween food drive “Trick-or-trEAT” and with demand up 600% in only 5 years we need to bring in a LOT of food this year!
Volunteer for a chance to relive your childhood trick or treating days and to support the Campus Food Bank. We are seeking volunteers for three positions with this event (door-to-door, driver, and sorter volunteers). Trick or TrEAT volunteer shifts are on Saturday, October 26 at varying times from 11am to 5pm.
There are 3 volunteer positions that we recruit for:
1. Door to Door volunteer: With this position, volunteers work in teams to collect donations and knock on residence doors along their assigned routes. This position is open to all ages, and you can sign up as a team or as an individual. If you sign up as an individual, we will add you to a group.
2. Drivers: This position involves picking up donations from sorter volunteers; walking around their assigned neighborhood; and, driving them back to the sorting hub (in the Students' Union Building). It involves a team of two (a driver and navigator). The navigator will be there to answer phone calls/texts and give directions, while the driver drives. A valid driving license and vehicle are required.
3. Sorters: These volunteers will collect the donations from the drivers at the Students' Union Building. Volunteers will weigh and sort donations according to type (beans, tuna, pasta etc.); they then store the donations in our office. With this role we give priority to current CFB volunteers. If you are not a current volunteer and would like to be a sorter, please select a back up role that you would like to do instead (if the sorting role is full).
