Help us clean our fossils!
The Dino Lab has the largest volunteer corps on the University Campus, and has had for a number of years. This is a fact we are both proud of, and very appreciative of as if we didn't have volunteers we would never get anywhere near the amount of specimens prepared that we do.
Starting September 1, the University of Alberta will require all those coming to campus to undergo regular rapid testing. Those who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 are exempt from this requirement.
Students, faculty, staff and volunteers who are not fully vaccinated, and those who would prefer not to disclose their vaccine status, will need to regularly complete a rapid screening test and receive a negative result before they participate in in-person activities.
As of November 1st, all students, staff, and volunteers must be fully vaccinated.
University regulations state that volunteers working alone (with no supervision) have to be 18 years or older, however if you are under 18 then we would welcome a parent or guardian to volunteer with you as well, if this is the case then you will need to register as a team with the parent / guardian that is accompanying you.
No experience in palaeontology is necessary to volunteer with us as we will teach you and give you something easy to start with. As you again experience, we will give you progressively more difficult projects when you feel comfortable to do them, and when we feel you can handle them.
The Evening Dino Lab is operated by the Graduate Students of Drs/ Philip Currie & Corwin Sullivan, and runs from 5 pm to 7 pm Monday through Thursday during Fall and Winter terms.
Please read the Lab Manual for Volunteers.
